For nine incredible years, the Big Buffalo 50 was more than a race. It was a celebration of endurance, community, and purpose.

What began as an ambitious trail running event grew into a beloved tradition that brought together the Memphis running community and participants from across the country. Year after year, runners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and spectators gathered to challenge themselves, encourage one another, and rally behind a cause that mattered.

Together, we created something truly special.

From first-time ultrarunners to seasoned athletes, every participant became part of a community united by determination and generosity. Every mile run, every volunteer shift, every sponsorship, and every donation helped make a meaningful difference for children and families facing childhood cancer.

Most importantly, the Big Buffalo 50 helped fuel the mission of Cancer Kickers Soccer Club. Because of this incredible event and the unwavering support of our community, we were able to provide Comfort, Community, and Connection to children battling cancer through personalized care packages, resources, and the reminder that no child should ever face cancer alone.

Our final race, held on March 21, 2026, was a fitting celebration of everything the Big Buffalo 50 had become. More than 350 runners filled the trails under beautiful skies, surrounded by enthusiastic volunteers, supportive spectators, great food, and an atmosphere that reflected the very best of our community. It was the perfect way to celebrate nine unforgettable years.

While the finish line has been crossed for the final time, the legacy of the Big Buffalo 50 lives on through every runner who accepted the challenge, every volunteer who gave their time, every sponsor who believed in the mission, and every child and family whose lives were touched because of this event.

To everyone who ran, volunteered, donated, sponsored, cheered, or simply believed in what we were building, thank you. You helped create more than a race. You built a community, inspired countless acts of generosity, and made a lasting impact that will continue long after the final finish line.
